TALKING NEWS

A free service that helps visually impaired people stay abreast of local news

talking News

Alnwick Lions fund the Talking Newspaper, so that it is free of charge to the user.

The Talking Newspaper primarily comprises a selection of the local news as reported in the Northumberland Gazette.  We also include information from county and national magazines for the visually impaired, with occasional other items.

The newspaper is recorded by a team of volunteers at Weavers Court in Alnwick. The various production responsibilities include reading and recording to produce the master copy.  This master copy is then transferred to USB Memory sticks which are sent to our clients via special Post Office pouches.  Our clients use the pouches to return USBs to us so that we can reuse them.  All postal services are free of charge.

We have USB players available to issue to new clients, should you require one.

If you are interested in receiving the Talking Newspaper, or wold like to know more about it, please contact Sandra, Editor, Alnwick Talking Newspaper on 07815832699.
